    SLObispo: the show!

SLObispo is a radio storytelling project currently in its infancy. Or at least its 3rd trimester. It was conceived by producers Carl B. Richetti, Jesse Bo Widmark and Blake Overman and was laboriously birthed on April 7, 2009 with the episode, "(Almost) 24 Hours at Uptown" (a tip of the hat to This American Life's "24 Hours at the Golden Apple".) It airs every Tuesday at 10am on KCPR 91.3fm out of San Luis Obispo, California, and can also conveniently find its way into your home any time of the day through iTunes.

SLObispo offers up quirky, under the radar stories from California's Central Coast that you would otherwise never hear. And although most of our stories come from this small slice of the world, we aim to tell tales enjoyable by anyone, anywhere. The show is a mix of reported stories, short stories, and radio drama--everything that current radio seems to be lacking.

The style and format of SLObispo can be traced most directly to This American Life, Radio Lab, and Rush Limbaugh (jk), but our producers draw inspiration from a variety of sources in Public Radio, short fiction writing, cereal boxes and beyond. Some shows seek to bring newsworthy events into the light out of sheer Journalistic Integrity. Since the producers of SLObispo don't have any of that, our aims are more modest: at SLObispo we tell stories. Stories that you wouldn't otherwise hear. Stories that will never make the news. Stories that will surprise you.
