Katie Barnes has a college degree that's been sitting in her desk drawer for two years, a dead-end job, a rent-free room in her parents' house, and a stalker following her on roller skates. So, pretty much like any other twenty-something.

"The story of Townies has been percolating in my head for the past few years as I've yo-yoed back and forth between my hometown. As I experienced the reality of a post-college wasteland, both in my own life and in my friends', Townies began to take shape. The popular euphemism for this experience--"the quarterlife crisis"--doesn't begin to do justice to the absurdity that life after college can become. My hope is that Townies will ring true with twenty-somethings who have experienced its horrors."
